Details: Teachers adopt books of learning to enable the learners to grasp the idea and develops concepts thereon. However the topics to be taught are sometimes so interrelated that knowledge of one kind earned in a topic becomes necessary to penetrate through the other topics. This demands a sequential way of learning. But finding an appropriate root is very difficult. Nevertheless a pyramidical system of developing the concept is a befitting way of success. This text book on Organic Chemistry tries to develop the fundamental ideas maintaining the sequence of learning as far as practicable. Special emphasis has been given on self learning methods so that the learners can feel confident in handling the subject out of their own ability. The present volume, builds up the platform with the discussion of structural chemistry. Molecular orbital theory is emphasized for the better understanding of properties. Hypothetical reactions like “isodesmotic reactions”, “homodesmotic reactions” have been adopted for proper evaluation of relative stability. A lucid method on the analysis of symmetry correlations and point group classifications are focused on understanding the structures as well as to predict few properties. Stereochemistry is dealt in a simplified method. Finally, spectral analysis is discussed to elucidate the structures.
