Description:
Renowned and legendary writer Ved Prakash Kamboj was one of the leading figures of Hindi popular literature during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi, he developed a passion for reading while assisting his father in their artifacts shop near the Red Fort.
His literary journey began with Indian folklore and religious texts, eventually leading him to detective fiction. His introduction to the literary world was guided by the celebrated author Om Prakash Sharma.
His first work, “Kangura,” was published around 1957–58 in Delhi and was reprinted after 62 years by Neelam Jasoos Karyalay. Over the years, his novels were consistently published by Neelam Jasoos and Ratan & Company, and later by several publishers across Delhi and Meerut.
His long-standing association with Neelam Jasoos spans over six decades. His popular Singhi and Alfaanse series gained immense popularity—so much so that counterfeit works were published under his name, though such attempts ultimately failed.
Known for his simplicity and literary contribution, he is among the few authors who also translated several world-famous works into Hindi, which were widely appreciated by readers.
