TheThoti is a primitive tribal population inhabiting the Adilabad district ofAndhra Pradesh. This tribe was recognized as primitive tribal population byGovernment of India in 1983. The total population comprises 3654 persons inAndhra Pradesh and 49.04% of them reside in the Adilabad district alone (1991census). Studies have reported that the change in fertility, mortality and agedistribution, as well as childbearing age would directly affect the rate atwhich genetic or genetically related diseases are expressed in a population.Thus in this book an attempt was made to define the demo-geneticpattern, with a view to relate their genetic diversity to their disease anddemographic profile among this tribal population.
