Mulla Vajhi occupies a distinguished place in the history of Dakhni Urdu literature. He is regarded as the author of the first original masnavi in Dakhni Urdu, Qutb Mushtari, the creator of one of the earliest prose masterpieces Sabras, and the presenter of an early Sufi work Tajul Haqaiq. He is also considered among the earliest essayists in Urdu literature and is often described as a pioneer of Urdu prose and literary criticism.

In the masnavi Qutb Mushtari, Vajhi expresses his views on literary values with breadth and depth, presenting a comprehensive literary vision. Besides Urdu, he was also a distinguished poet in Persian. His Persian poetry forms a bridge between the Iraqi and Indian traditions of Persian literature and reflects the intellectual spirit of his time.

In the light of his literary contributions, Mulla Vajhi may be considered an early initiator of poetic criticism in Urdu literature. At the conclusion of Sabras, the essential characteristics of poetry and literature are discussed in a concise and systematic manner. The language of Sabras represents a meeting point of the early Hindi tradition and Persian literary conventions, blending the aesthetic flavor of Hindi with the stylistic richness of Persian.
