About the Author
Mohapatra Nilamani Sahoo (1926-2016) was one of the most significant writers in the Odia language. His storytelling style is remarkably candid in expression, capturing the first flush of youthful love, the satire of human relationships, and the humor in everyday life. His writings vividly reflect the society and customs of his time, the changing lifestyle of the generation after the country gained independence, and his rural upbringing. His work is presented in a wonderful way, allowing readers to connect with both his personal and broader cultural experiences. He was honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for his writings, and two films based on his stories also received national film awards.
Guruprasad Mohapatra (1962-2021), the son of Mohapatra Nilamani Sahoo, was a distinguished Indian Administrative Service Officer of the Gujarat cadre, 1986 batch. He was highly regarded for his contributions in every position he was posted. He played a significant role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, but tragically succumbed to the virus at the age of 61. He was posthumously honored with the Padmashree award.
